The future of digital agencies… is safe!

The Barrier’s Gone. So Now What?

The barrier to entry for launching ideas? Basically non-existent.

Indie makers are shipping more than ever – hell, you can prompt an AI on Twitter and have it spin up a half-decent product by lunch for pennies on the pound. For digital agencies, that should be terrifying. But also? Kind of exciting.

As an example: my very good mate whipped up a recipe app with Tailwind, Material Design, and the usual trimmings to help him and his partner plan dinners. It’s colourful, functional… and undeniably stitched together with duct tape and vibes – a solo sprint through design, dev, UX, and deployment.

To use a house analogy – you wouldn’t ask an architect to design the plans, build the walls, install plumbing, wire the electrics and do your taxes. (Unless you’re into chaos.)

It works fantastic for what they need, and maybe that’s enough… but if it’s not, that’s where we come in. Your next big idea deserves more than a multi-tabbed generalist and a dream.

You did what in the shower?

They’re not rocking up with “I had a thought in the shower” ideas anymore – they’ve already got an MVP.

Built over a weekend. Working(ish). Alive.

And that’s exciting – because it means we can skip weeks of back and forth and get straight to realising the vision.

The real value of our time now?

Figuring out how to turn that scrappy start into a world-class product.

What’s missing? What’s breaking the UX? Why does the flow feel clunky?

As an agency our value is no longer getting the first version off the ground, it’s making sure that the V2 is the best it can be.

It’s not just about design and delivery – it’s about unpacking, unpicking, and rebuilding that MVP into something scalable and cohesive. The frontend will need rewiring, the UX unboxed from its template prison, and the brand pulled out of the placeholder zone into something that people can recognise.

You’re no longer starting from version 0.0 – maybe like 0.4 – and that’s magical!

How do we evolve as an agency?

Every project I’ve touched in the last 18 months has helped me shape stricter, smarter AI rules for how we build our systems.

Every project we ship sharpens the rulebook. The ethos: we should remain the expert in what has impact, we need cohesion in our results and the lightest touch possible is taken when deploying Agentic AI on projects. (We’ve got more on this here: Agency 3035)

Whether it’s app structure, user experience flows, server config, API conventions, or even what packages we’ll allow – at Brandies we’re building living, evolving guardrails for every facet of how we work. This isn’t about micromanaging output – it’s about ensuring what gets built isn’t just the byproduct of a helpful but un-opinionated AI sidekick.

Every mistake, every friction point, and every insane AI suggestion gets folded back into the rulebook.

Did it install a bloated library for something trivial? Add a blocklist.

Did it hallucinate a flow that was never in the brief? Rewrite the prompt format.

Did something feel just… off? Tighten the spec, understand the problem better

It’s not rigid – it’s responsive. We’re the experts, AI remains the copilot.

We’re creating a ruleset that lets us move fast without breaking the fundamentals. So projects don’t veer off-course because an AI misread the tone or a dev took a shortcut. It means we know exactly how things are being made – and why.

The flex isn’t “can you summon an AI god to build something?” – teenagers are already doing that and making bank. The real edge is how you wield that power without ending up with something lifeless and forgettable. AI gives you scale. Human’s gives you impact.

And most of what’s out there being made right now with AI? To me? Feels like lorem ipsum with a login button.

You can’t use AI for everything!

Please for the love of god – stop applying AI to design and marketing like it’s a silver bullet.

Yes, it can support. But it should never lead.

Why?

Because when it does, everything starts to feel the same. Formulaic. Forgettable. Anti-human.

At Brandies, we deploy AI where it makes sense:

  • Functionality

  • Feature specs

  • Framework scaffolding

  • Open-source integrations

But never for the soul of the product. Not for design. Not for messaging. Not for brand.

That stuff’s still sacred.

Still human!

Make your V2 count – Brandies can give gravity to your project.

The biggest thing you can do is get your MVP to someone who doesn’t understand where it comes from. Let’s build something worth keeping
